Bible reading notes that represent the reader

Fishermen, doctors, teachers, tax collectors, even freedom fighters; Jesus gathered people from all walks of life around Him to hear His unique message. What’s more, He commissioned those same people to carry on His work, to make more disciples.  Jesus’ message of good news is for all people, “This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:3-4  and can be communicated by all believers, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light” (1 Peter 2:9

Fresh from The Word adopts the same approach – it is written by a diverse group of people who are following God, for a diverse group of people who are following God. The daily devotionals are read in 32 countries, in very varied cultures including the UK, India, Cameroon, Fiji and Western Samoa. Our Editor, David Painting, explains a little about our writers. “We have writers who have English as their second language in over eight different languages, writers from around 12 different nations. About 45% of our writers are not from the UK.”

Bringing together such a wide range of people offers a unique collective of perspective, in addition to the musings of each individual writer. What’s more, this fellowship is a constant reminder to the reader that we are one body in Christ, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28. It is a wonderful encouragement, knowing that when you are reading the verses of Scripture in Fresh from The Word each day, you do so alongside thousands of believers all over the world, all following Jesus together.
